Epiphora is an annoying symptom embarrassing the patient socially and functionally and is the main symptom of NLDO. This study was conducted to compare the success rate of External DCR with and without silicone intubation. A total of 40 cases were taken for the study.20 cases underwent DCR with intubation and 20 cases underwent DCR without intubation. Syringing was done on the 1st postoperative day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 6 months after surgery. Success rate was evaluated by grading epiphora and duct patency. Success rate at 6 months after surgery was 95% for DCR with intubation and 90% for DCR without intubation. External DCR without intubation yielded equally good results as External DCR with intubation.
