Poisoning due to drugs is influenced to a large extent by the population’s socioeconomic and cultural status. In developing countries, acute poisoning is a major preventable public health problem among children. Kerosene ingestion is one of the most common causes in these settings and is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Although this problem has mostly been eliminated in the developed countries, many developing countries are still lagging behind.
