IUD is the world’s most widely used method of reversible birth control. Higher discontinuation rates are documented in developing countries like India. This retrospective study was conducted in the Post-Partum unit of King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam over a period of three years from January 2012 to December 2014 to determine the socio-demographic characteristics, side effects/complications, duration of use and reasons for discontinuation of the intra uterine contraceptive device (IUD).
